Campus Gutenberg of Communication and Scientific Culture celebrates its 6th edition in Barcelona

Get ready for the essential event for scientific communication lovers!

On September 12-13th the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences of Pompeu Fabra University and the Barcelona Biomedical Research Park (PRBB) will host the 6th edition of Campus Gutenberg, an open scientific communication summer school that has become an unmissable meeting point among people involved in science communication, science journalism and those generaly interested in the relationship of science and society. It aims at providing an open space to show new channels and formats for all areas of science journalism, communication and culture in order to bring science and society closer. It is also an excellent platform for debating the challenges and new opportunities of the sector with both professionals and the general public interested in scientific communication.

Several activities will take place to promote dialogue between speakers and attendees. Such as workshops where participants will learn new techniques of scientific communication through experimentation and participation, ideas labs to share initiatives and exchange opinions regarding innovative projects and debates for specific topics. In the evening, a magic show will bring magic and science closer than ever and after that, a “beer for science” event will close the night.
Original ways to disseminate science to different target audiences, strategies to bring the gap between science and society or the entrepreneurship in the scientific communication field are just a few examples of the many topics that will be discussed during the congress. Most of the ideas will be addressed in an interdisciplinary way in order to foster mutual learning between different disciplines.

Campus Gutenberg is organized by the Master Degree in Scientific, Medical and Environmental Communication at UPF Barcelona School of Management, whose directors are Gema Revuelta and Vladimir de Semir, and Obra Social “la Caixa”, in collaboration with the Studies Centre on Science, Communication and Society (SCS-UPF) and the Catalan Association for Science Communication.

The programme is based on proposals submitted by professionals who freely demonstrate their interest in participating. The programme (in Spanish) is already available here.

This event is open to anyone interested in scientific communication, so the registration is free.

Campus Gutenberg is usually in Spanish or Catalan but depending on the international attendance specific sessions can be hold in English. Some debates will be available in streaming.
